For Physicians Interested in Dermatology Training at Our Department

  • We are looking for motivated physicians who aspire to become board-certified dermatologists.
  • Training at our department follows the new board certification system for dermatology.
  • Trainees will gain experience in all aspects of dermatology, including:
    • Inflammatory skin diseases
    • Benign and malignant skin tumors
    • Genetic skin disorders
    • Skin infections
    • Allergic and autoimmune skin diseases
    • Pediatric and geriatric dermatology
    • Aesthetic dermatology

Training Path

  • The board certification can be obtained in a minimum of five years.
  • Year 1: Training at Fukuoka University Hospital.
  • Year 2 onwards: Training at affiliated hospitals, all of which are board-certified dermatology training facilities.
  • Those interested in pursuing a PhD can enroll in graduate school to conduct clinical or basic research.

Specialized Training in Malignant Skin Tumors

  • For those interested in cutaneous oncology, training at Japan’s leading skin cancer centers is available from the second year onwards.
  • The training period is flexible (6 months to 3 years).
  • Participants will gain experience in surgery, chemotherapy, and comprehensive oncologic care.
  • This training may also lead to certification as a specialist in skin oncology.

Application Process for Residency Training

  • Application Deadline: End of July (may close earlier depending on the number of applicants).
  • Please contact us if you are interested in applying.
  • If a residency information session is scheduled, details will be posted on the homepage under “News & Updates”.
  • Due to regulations set by the Japanese Medical Specialty Board and the Japanese Dermatological Association, the number of available positions is limited.
  • If the number of applicants exceeds the available slots, a selection process will be conducted.
