Features of Medical Services

The Department of Dermatology at Fukuoka University Hospital accepts all kinds of skin diseases and specializes in outpatient and inpatient treatment for severe atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, diagnosis and management of bacterial and herpes infections of the skin, treatment of hereditary skin diseases such as neurofibromatosis type I (von Recklinghausen disease), surgery for benign skin tumors, and comprehensive care, including surgery and anticancer chemotherapy, for malignant skin tumors. Additionally, we offer cosmetic dermatology services on a self-pay basis through our specialized aesthetic clinic.

Skin biopsies and minor outpatient surgeries can often be performed on a same-day basis, while treatment for malignant skin tumors generally requires hospitalization. Specimens from surgical excisions are regularly reviewed in collaborative conferences between dermatologists and pathologists to ensure accurate diagnoses.
